Terms of use

These terms are between you and GetMyFirstJob Ltd, trading as Talent People. By using the Careers Leader Hub you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the hub.

1. Who may use the hub

The hub is for careers leaders, careers advisers, tutors, trainers, work coaches and other staff with a genuine, appropriately vetted role at an organisation that supports people into work — a school, college, university, jobcentre or training provider. Your account is verified by us before any data about the people you support becomes visible.

You need an account of your own. Accounts are personal to you: you must not share your sign-in, let anyone else use your account, or use someone else's.

2. What you may use the data for

You may use what you see in the hub only to support the people at your own organisation with their careers, work experience and skills. That includes advising them, following up on progress, and your organisation's legitimate safeguarding processes.

You must not:

• share what you see outside your organisation's careers-support and safeguarding processes;
• use it for marketing, recruitment for your own vacancies, or any commercial purpose;
• copy or extract data in bulk, or keep your own separate record of it beyond what your organisation's own retention policy requires;
• attempt to reach data about people at any other organisation;
• use it to make a decision that disadvantages someone without a person reviewing it; or
• attempt to re-identify anyone from aggregated or anonymised figures.

3. Safeguarding

You are seeing information about young people, some of whom are children. Treat it as you would any other pupil or learner information at your organisation, under your organisation's own safeguarding and data protection policies. If something in the hub gives you a safeguarding concern, follow your own organisation's procedure — the hub is not a reporting route and is not monitored for that purpose.

4. Keeping your access accurate

You confirm that the details you gave at registration are accurate and that you currently hold the role you described at the organisation you selected. You must tell us promptly if you leave that role or move organisation, so we can close or transfer your account. Access follows your role, not you personally.

5. Minimum age

The Careers Hub is for people aged 13 and over. You must not use it to support anyone younger, and you must not add anyone under 13 to a cohort. Where a list you upload includes someone under 13, we refuse that row: they are not added, no invite is created for them, and we tell you which rows were affected.

6. Lists you upload, and who is responsible for what

Uploading a list is optional. You can use the hub without it and simply see the people at your organisation who have already registered with us.

Where you do upload a list, your organisation decides to share that data with us and is the controller of it at that point. We act on your organisation's instructions in setting those people up, and we are the controller of what happens afterwards once they register with us in their own right and accept our terms. By uploading, you confirm on behalf of your organisation that:

• your organisation actually supports the people on the list;
• your organisation has a lawful basis for sharing their details with us;
• your organisation has told the people concerned — or their parents, where they are younger — that it is sharing their details with us and why, or will do so within one month of uploading them. This is your organisation's own transparency duty to its pupils and learners under Article 13 of the UK GDPR, and it is not one we can discharge on your behalf;
• nobody on the list is under 13; and
• the list contains only the columns we ask for, and no additional or special-category information.

That third point matters more than it might look. Because your organisation holds the relationship with these people and we do not, it is your organisation that tells them — and we rely on your confirmation that it has. You are welcome to point them at our privacy notice, which sets out what we do with their details and what they can ask us for.

We create a personal invite link for each person and you send it — we do not email them, so nothing reaches them from us until they choose to register. If someone has not registered within a month, their link stops working and we delete what you gave us about them. If you need them after that, upload them again.

7. What we do

We operate the hub with data minimisation by default: your view is scoped to your own organisation, and shows name, email address, age, programmes, progress and skills. Dates of birth, special-category data, home postcodes and our internal engagement scores are kept out of it — including anything you supplied yourself in a list, which we do not read back to you. We verify every careers leader before granting access to data about young people.

The hub is provided as it is, and we do not promise it will always be available or free of faults. It is a support tool: nothing in it is careers guidance in its own right, or a substitute for your professional judgement.

8. Suspension

We may suspend or close your account, without notice where necessary, if we believe these terms have been breached, if your role or organisation can no longer be verified, or where safeguarding requires it. We may also review how the hub is being used at an organisational level to check it is being used as these terms describe.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Where a change is significant we will flag it in the hub and may ask you to accept the updated version before carrying on. We keep a record of which version you accepted and when.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
